  • Throughout the last 7 weeks we have been doing individual research on an Ancient Civilization of your choice

  • This is the last week of that project! At the end you will hand in all of your research (5 themes) and one final project!

  • Your job this week to create a final project, watch the NEWS video this week for more info and have a look at the worksheet to explain it!

  • Make sure that you have chosen a culture from the list

    • Choose from: Ancient China, Ancient Japan, Mongolia, Mesopotamia, Inca, Maori

  • Today you will do: Part 5 Research Questions

  • If you have not already, please work on the earlier parts!

    • Part 1: Physical Geography

    • Part 2: Buildings and Architecture

    • Part 3: Government and Leadership

    • Part 4: Technology and Tools

    • Part 5: Food and Clothing

Writing:

  • We are building off of OREO writing, and looking at the difference between persuasive writing and opinion writing!

  • Watch this video on YouTube:

  • You will need a Pros and Cons T-chart from your package

  • Follow along and try the activity on your own!

  • EVIDENCE: Send me a picture or type up your writing!

 

Bike Parade:​

  • This afternoon all the teachers from Harwin are biking past the houses of students!

  • Come outside, bang a pot or pan and say hello!

  • EVIDENCE: To be entered for a prize, take a selfie with the parade behind you!

 

Reading!​

  • Listen to chapter 23 on YouTube!

  • Choose 2/3 Questions on that chapter to answer

  • EVIDENCE: Send me a picture or type up your writing!

WEEK 5: Monday May 4

MONDAY:

Writing:

  • If you didn’t complete part 1 last week, go back and watch the Youtube on OREO persuasive writing

  • Use the 2nd OREO Worksheet from your package

  • We are doing the same thing for practice again! Your topics this time are:

  • Would you rather: lose your sense of smell OR lose your sense of taste

  • Be creative! Show high quality thought and defend your opinions!

  • IF YOU STILL HAVEN’T DONE YOUR LETTER TO YOURSELF… please do it! (see TUESDAY tab of the website for help)

  • EVIDENCE: Send me a picture or type up your writing!

 

Scavenger Hunt:

  • A for fun challenge- find the items on the list when you click the green button!

  • EVIDENCE: Send me a picture of everything in one picture!

  • I will draw a winner from the names of everyone who completes this and drop off an ice-cap at your house Thursday afternoon if you’re the winner!!

 

Optional: Music Challenge from Mrs. Chivillo!

  • Have a look at the sheet from Mrs. Chivillo, see if you’re interested and give it a try!

  • Try to complete the challenge over the week- she is excited to hear from you all!

WEEK 4: Monday April 27

MONDAY:

  1. NEWS: Watch Team Meeting: April 27 video on YouTube for an overview of the week’s work

  2. Read-Aloud:

  • Catch-up! Today we are starting Chapter 13

  • The questions are in your work work package

  • EVIDENCE: Answer questions on a paper, or type out your answers and email to me!

3. Writing:

  • Finish email writing from last week (see Thursday work)

  • Creative writing from novel study: MasterMinds (in work package)

  • Try to come up with 3 different arguments in response to the question:

“How do you think you would feel and react if you were to find out that every adult you know is lying to you? What would you do?”

  • This is the beginning of a persuasive writing unit- so please show high quality thought in your responses!

  • EVIDENCE:  Send me a picture or type up your writing!

 

4. Math:

  • Watch probability video on YouTube! From last Wednesday

  • Complete that assignment numbers 9-14 (in work package)

  • EVIDENCE: Send a typed copy of your answers OR a picture of your work on paper!

 

5. ADST: Building Challenge!

  • Cacth up form last week

  • Have a look at the sheet from Mrs. Pearse

  • Start your building process!

  • Try to complete the challenge over the week-

  • EVIDENCE: Send a picture of your final product…We have prizes!

WEEK 3: Monday April 20

MONDAY:

  1. NEWS: Watch Team Meeting: April 20 video on YouTube for an overview of the week’s work

  2. Career Ed:

  • Choose a genius Hour Activity to focus on at home

  • Watch the Youtube Video

  • Choose a household goal, write it at the top of a staircase and break it down into smaller steps like the video shows you how.

  • EVIDENCE: Choose a goal or a few options that you might want to work towards and email them to me!

3.  Read-Aloud:

  • Catch-up! I have heard from only a few of you and need you to catch up on these chapters or you won’t be able to keep up with the novel study. We are only 8 chapters in so now is the time to catch up!

  • It is also possible we go back to school before the book is done and you need to know what is going on!

  • After you’re caught up, listen each day so you don’t get behind again

  • Choose 2 out of the 3 questions for each chapter

  • Questions are posted on “worksheets” tab of website https://carsondiv12.wixsite.com/classwithmrsc/announcements

  • EVIDENCE: Answer questions on a paper, or type out your answers and email to me!

IF You are not done...​

Writing:

  • Letter writing assignment- please finish and mail!

  • In your bag of supplies from school I printed off some pages to explain this project, I also included an envelope with a stamp on it

  • Please watch the Youtube video/follow the instructions on the page and put in the nearest curbside mailbox near your home! (ask you family where!)

  • EVIDENCE: Send me a picture of you putting your letter in the mailbox!
