WEEK 8: Tuesday May 26

Class Meeting:  This afternoon at 1:00 please try to attend our class meeting on ZOOM 

Math:

  • Practice Equivalent Fractions with this online game!

  • IF YOU HAVEN'T...Watch the videos from last week on equivalent fractions to understand!

  • EVIDENCE: send me a picture of the computer screen to prove you tried it out!

Writing:

  • Watch the writing lesson on YouTube!

  • Use the persuasive letter sheet in your work package

  • Your statement to choose from is: Students should come back to school OR students should work online for the rest of the year

  • Develop ideas for your writing (brainstorm ideas)

  • Use the facts to frame your letter and add your opinions to 

  • Complete the letter on your own, address it to the person you chose (Mrs. McGraw, me, the Superintendent, the Provinical Doctor)

  • EVIDENCE: Send me a picture or type up your writing!

Socials:

  • Have a look at yesterday's Social Studies lesson- try to catch up on research and start your final project!

 

WEEK 7: Tuesday May 19

News:  Watch May 19: Team Meeting for news, help for today’s work and some updates!

Writing:

  • We finished MasterMinds on Friday! 

  • Use your plot diagram from the first package to explain the events of the story! If you don't have it anymore make one on a blank paper!

  • I have used the Team Meeting to explain this job!

  • If you haven't finished the book catch up and see how the book ends!

  • EVIDENCE: Send me a picture or type up your writing!

 

Daily Physical Activity!

  • Juggling challenge!

  • Watch this video and try to learn to juggle- I will too!

  • Find an open space (please don't brake anything in your house) like your yard!

  • It will take some practice, and a little time over the whole week. Do it a few minutes at a time, and see how you progress!

  • PRIZE: send a video of yourself by the end of the week and most improved will win a prize... a package of Nestea Juice Boxes!

WEEK 5: Tuesday May 12

Math:

  • We have finished probability!

  • We are doing a quick review of fractions the next few weeks and then learn some new info!

  • Don’t be worried- there are so many activities that don’t even feel like math you can use to practice fractions!

  • Watch the lesson on YouTube for some notes and give the activities it a try!

  • EVIDENCE: Send me pictures of your fractions in real life!

  • Use connections to come up with your responses:

  • Use the log in information I will send you all individually!

Reading:

  • From your own reading you have been doing (on epic books or a book of your choice)

  • Start to fill out the plot diagram like we have in class for our novels and the Pixar Shorts

  • For the 5 minutes choose a safe exercise (run or walk one time around your block, do jumping jacks, skip, run on the spot or whatever else you can think of)

  • Make sure that you have chosen a culture from the list last week and send proof to your teacher! (Ancient China, Ancient Japan, Mongolia, Mesopotamia, Inca, Maori) There are introductions to each place to help you choose on last week’s homework!

  • Once you have chosen a culture… start researching!

This week’s research theme is Physical Geography. This means the natural landscapes and features of the area. Please research the following questions about your chosen country or culture. You might need to look up key words that are underlined.

 

  1. What continent is it on? What hemisphere is it in?

  2. What are the nearby or neighboring countries?

  3. What are the major bodies of water of your area (lakes, rivers, oceans, seas, waterfalls)

  4. What natural landforms are part of your area? (mountains, deserts, plains, forests/rainforests/volcanoes)

  5.  What is the climate of your area? (the weather conditions, ex: hot, dry, cold, wet, rainy, humid, snowy etc.)

  6. What were some of the natural resources (supplies found in nature) that were used for housing/shelter in your culture of study?
